Police
Indian River Shores Public Safety Department provides comprehensive police services to the Town on a continuous basis. These services include responding to any emergency calls including medical, fire, and personal/home security, traffic enforcement, criminal complaints and community liaison. Patrol activity is accomplished with marked and unmarked vehicles, ATVs on the beach, and a marine unit which patrols the Intracoastal Waterway. The objective of the Department is to provide an ongoing presence of personnel throughout the Town, ensuring the highest quality of life and security for all citizens.
Lieutenant Chris Beaumont is responsible for all law enforcement activities, including planning, administrative management, SWAT and personnel. Reporting to Lieutenant Chris Beaumont are three shift sergeants, Shawn Hoyt, Bart Crosby, Kip Benham and Investigations. The shift sergeants are primarily responsible for all patrol activities and aiding the Public Safety Officers with all emergency calls and traffic enforcement.
Captain Albert Iovino is responsible for managing the Community Liaison functions within Public Safety. Detective Kyle Smith, Community Liaison is available to complete home security inspections, provide training related to hurricane preparedness, promote the Department's health and safety programs, and create an ongoing dialogue with the Town's homeowner and condo associations on issues of mutual importance and interest.
Detective Smith is also responsible for all criminal investigations, crime scene processing, and managing necessary follow up for any criminal complaints received by the Department.
Captain Iovino and Lieutenant Beaumont report to Deputy Chief Mark Shaw.
