Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief Mark Shaw is responsible for all law enforcement and fire rescue activities including planning, administrative management, personnel matters, and equipment maintenance. Deputy Chief Shaw began his law enforcement/fire rescue career in 1990 when he joined Indian River County Fire Rescue as a paramedic. He moved to North Palm Beach in 2000 to work as a Public Safety Officer with certifications as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic. In 2004, Shaw joined Indian River Shores Public Safety as a Public Safety Officer, promoted to Sergeant in 2012, promoted to Lieutenant in May 2013, and promoted to Captain in December 2017. Deputy Chief Shaw graduated from Indian River State College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Administration, and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Oklahoma. He is also a recent graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy class 271 and the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course class 144.
